Before attempting the update, join the "XHDATA & Radiwow Enthusiasts" Facebook group. Search for "8832 cable mod." The community there has pre-made wiring diagrams and verified .hex file hashes. Happy DXing, and may your VFO be stable

If you own an older unit or are experiencing issues like display lag, SSB drift, or muting between VFOs, you might need a firmware update. But here is the catch: It requires precision, specific hardware, and a bit of courage. Proceed at your own risk

Version 8832 is likely the final stable firmware for the D-808. XHDATA customer service will sometimes email you a copy of 8832, but they do not host it publicly to avoid bricking support tickets.

This process is risky. If you interrupt power or use the wrong cable, you brick your radio (turn it into a paperweight).

However, like any sophisticated piece of software-driven hardware, the D-808 is not static. Over its production lifespan, XHDATA has released several to squash bugs, improve tuning performance, and add hidden features.
