The first fight ended in a technical draw. Warlord used advanced psychic weaponry to amplify Diana’s own guilt over past failures (the death of Steve Trevor’s alternate self, the destruction of an Amazon outpost, etc.). She defeated his physical form, but he escaped into a pocket dimension, vowing to return with a "new understanding" of her weaknesses. Fans were left hanging—until now. The updated version—released in Wonder Woman #800 (DC’s landmark issue)—isn't just a continuation. Writer Tom King and artist Daniel Sampere have reworked several key elements based on fan feedback and plot holes from the original draft. Here’s what’s been updated: 1. The Setting: From Warzone to Arena of the Mind Previously, the rematch took place on a generic battlefield. The updated issue shifts the fight to the Psycho-Plex , a sentient, shape-shifting arena that responds to the emotions of its combatants. Warlord, now armed with a fragment of the Lasso of Truth (stolen in a flashback heist), forces Diana to fight not just him, but herself —multiple versions of her own past. wonder woman vs warlord part 2 updated

This update adds a surreal, Doctor Strange -esque quality. At one point, Diana faces the version of herself from Flashpoint , the ruthless Amazon killer. The emotional weight is staggering. In the original Part 2 draft, Warlord’s plan was generic: "I want power." The updated script gives him a tragic backstory. He is revealed to be a former general from a world where the Amazons never existed—a world that descended into eternal war without Diana’s influence. He believes that by killing Wonder Woman, he will paradoxically "save" worlds by removing a symbol that makes others weak. Essential reading for any DC fan
