The is not a sequel. According to the developer (credited simply as Urban Demons ), the remake was born out of limitations in the original engine. The code was clunky, the art direction was inconsistent, and many promised story branches led to dead ends.
represents the first public alpha of this rebuilt world. It retains the soul of the original—the moral ambiguity, the haunting soundtrack, and the erotic tension—but rebuilds the technical architecture from the ground up using a more robust version of Ren'Py. Version 0.1.1: What’s New? Since the developer has labeled this a "remake," fans of the original might expect the same old content with better graphics. However, v0.1.1 introduces several radical changes. 1. The Prologue Reconstruction The most immediate change in v0.1.1 is the prologue. The original game threw players into the action with little context. The remake spends time building the oppressive atmosphere of the "Lower Spire" district. You now experience the protagonist's first encounter with the supernatural—a demonic whisper in a subway tunnel—with full cinematic lighting effects. 2. Rendered Visuals vs. 2D Art A major point of contention in early reviews has been the shift from hand-drawn 2D sprites to 3D rendered characters (using Daz3D). In v0.1.1 , the developer has struck a middle ground. While the environments are fully 3D rendered, the character close-ups and intimate scenes utilize a cel-shaded filter to retain a "comic noir" feel. The lighting engine has been overhauled to fix the "plastic skin" look that plagued the earlier demo. 3. The Sandbox Lite System The original Urban Demons featured a time-management system that was often criticized as tedious. For v0.1.1 , the developer introduces "Sandbox Lite." Time still passes, but actions are queued in a priority system. You can choose to investigate the city morning, noon, or night without worrying about missing a random event due to poor scheduling. 4. New Character: "Sage" While the core cast (Vex, Luna, and Officer Cross) returns, v0.1.1 introduces a new side character: Sage , a mysterious informant who runs a cursed record store. Sage does not yet have a full romance or corruption path, but early dialogue suggests a major role in future updates as a neutral party who can help you fight or embrace the demon inside you. Gameplay Mechanics in v0.1.1 Given that this is version 0.1.1 , the gameplay loop is still in its infancy. Currently, the game offers approximately 45 minutes to 1.5 hours of content, depending on how thoroughly you explore dialogue options. Urban Demons- Remake -v0.1.1- By Urban Demons
