Even the developer of ZArchiver cannot unlock your archive. If you lose the password, the data is essentially gone. This is a feature, not a bug—it protects you from hackers and forensic tools. If any website or YouTube video claims to have a "universal password of ZArchiver" that unlocks any file, it is a scam . Do not download their "password crackers" or "generators"—they are likely malware. Part 4: The "Default Password" Setting in ZArchiver (Most Misunderstood Feature) When you go into ZArchiver’s settings (three dots > Settings), you will see an option labeled "Default password" or "Temporary password" (depending on the version). What does this do? This setting does NOT unlock other people’s archives. Instead, it pre-fills the password field when you are creating a new archive or extracting multiple archives that share the same password. This is by design
ZArchiver is just a tool—a key, if you will. It does not create passwords; it only respects them. The password is attached to the archive file (the .zip , .rar , or .7z ), not to the application itself. October 2025 – Verified with ZArchiver version 1
